Whether it's for a birthday or just for the fun of it, why not provide your guests with an art activity that's fun and inspiring? Host a Book-Making Party! Whether it be for a one-off visit or a series of visits, I can bring the magic of books arts made simple to your location. (Not just for birthdays - and certainly, not just for kids! Adults love making books, too - why not host a book party for your friends?)

I'll spend an hour (or more) with groups of up to 10 guests, ages 6 and up, to guide and inspire them in creating a fun and fabulous book project to take home.  I bring all art materials; you need only provide table space.  (If you're booking me for a birthday party, I'll make a special birthday sign-in book for your child, and bring glittery gel pens so friends and family can sign it!)

What can we make in an hour? Possibilities include:

  • Ribbon-tied accordion book with pop-ups
  • 2-hole "rubber-band book" which can utilize branches, chopsticks, straws, many different items as part of the binding
  • Butterfly book (butterfly- or dragonfly-wing shaped pages attached to a decorated body; with googly eyes and antennae of course!)
  • Wraparound pamphlet book
  • Envelope book with a mini padlock closure
  • Mini book "purse"
  • Many other ideas...contact me to discuss age-appropriate options for your guests!

Longer periods of time = more complex book structures, OR multiple book projects, OR one simple book plus time to start writing and illustrating! My background in illustration/graphic communications enables me to offer students excellent guidance on story planning and page layout, which can be woven into the overall lesson plan if you so desire.

Rate for Brooklyn/Manhattan (below 125th street):
-$25 per student per hour for up to 15 students, with a minimum fee of $150. Does not include materials.
-Materials fee for the group $20-35 total, depending on project (may be higher if special materials requested)
-Additional time billed at $100/hr
-Travel fee charged for Manhattan north of 125th St, all parts of Queens, Staten Island and beyond.
-10% discount offered on multiple classes (eg if you schedule a series of workshops for your group).

I can also do in-home instruction for a variety of different art techniques, including drawing classes - feel free to reach out if that's of interest.
